About Us
Why a Commons?
The Commons is a community of companions with a structure for creating spaces to engage the question of how we form communities of hope in our varied contexts. Rather than experts, gurus or data-driven strategic planners predicting futures, the Commons is a community of companions from pioneering contexts and long-established institutions, finding ways of encouraging and midwifing one another in discerning how the Spirit is calling us to lead in their contexts.
We believe God is calling for a new “commons” to grow Communities of Hope in this context where we have never been before.
We need each other to get over the hurdles that keep drawing us back to what has been safe and comfortable in the institutionalism of some existing models of church.
What will we do?
We want to resource and train, encourage and equip, a movement of people who will not fall back into some existing ruts where we have done our own thing, but rather discern where God is at work. Through our various offerings, we will craft conversations cultivating new communities of God’s people dwelling in neighbourhoods.
